Rod

Rod

At the northern edges of the Dragonwastes lays the dwarven city-state of Rod. It was settled and built at the base of a dormant volcano and spent half of its' existance in obscurity until Skantarios set the southern lands on fire. The dwarves agreed to shelter the lone survivor Noxios and their holding soon became of great interest. When attacked by the newly converted followers of Skantarios, the dragon Noxios offered to help them forge weapons in his magic fire. These swords and spears and axes turned out to be far superior to their enemy's and, despite outnumbered, they held off for months and eventually broke the back of the Sionite army. Although many petty wars and raids followed, Rod established itself as the uncontested power in the area.

Now the city's boroughs spread around the volcano. The white flags of Noxios flow above its' walls, which are similarly decorated with his dragon head motif. Statues of dwarven heroes are lined up on the sides of the main road starting from the massive main gates. Many tribal dwarves and even some humans have settled and built villages around the city and emulate the nation's penchant for stonecutting and metalworking by becoming blacksmiths and setting up statues of their small gods, though many are being converted to the newly founded Church of Noxios.

As of now, Rod has been completely cut off by the demons but it is known that some dwarves have survived, although they are now seemingly under the employ of the Necromancer.
